Our goal
We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We have not had the website independently audited and do not claim full conformance, but we work to improve it.
What we have in place
- Keyboard navigation for menus, map layer buttons, place lists, questions and the cookie choices
- Visible focus indicators
- Logical headings and landmark regions
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images
- Labels on form fields, including the neighborhood tool
- Text colors chosen for readable contrast
- Layouts that support browser zoom and small screens
- Respect for reduced-motion settings where animation is used
- Written equivalents for map information in the place list
Known limitations
The interactive map canvas itself is difficult to use with a screen reader; the place list beside it provides the same information. Journal articles are drafted automatically and may occasionally need formatting fixes.
