Cookies and browser storage

The short version

This website is not cookie-free, but it uses very little. It sets no analytics or advertising cookies. It saves your cookie choice in your browser, and it loads map images from OpenStreetMap only if you allow embedded maps.

Inventory

• hnc-consent — Strictly necessary. Provider: this website. Type: browser local storage. Purpose: remembers your cookie choice and the policy version you agreed to. Retention: until you clear site data or change your choice; the banner reappears when the policy version changes.
• OpenStreetMap map tiles — Embedded content (optional). Provider: OpenStreetMap Foundation tile servers. Type: third-party network requests from your browser; the tile service may apply its own cookies or logging. Purpose: draws the interactive map. Retention: set by OpenStreetMap. Loaded only after you allow embedded maps.
• Hosting and security processing — Strictly necessary. Provider: our hosting provider. Type: server logs and, where applied, short-lived security cookies set by the network to block abuse. Purpose: deliver and protect the website. Retention: set by the provider.
• Analytics identifiers — none used.
• Advertising identifiers — none used.
• Preference cookies — none used.

Your choices

When you first visit, you can choose "Accept all," "Essential only" or "Manage preferences"; all three are equally prominent and no optional category is preselected. Essential only keeps the map switched off until you choose to load it. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page; withdrawal takes effect immediately for future page activity. We never treat continued browsing as consent.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking local storage means we cannot remember your choice, so the banner will reappear. Blocking third-party requests will stop the map from loading; everything else on the website still works.
